SUMMARY:AIASF Design Tech Meetup: How On-Site AR Helped to Present the Center for Architecture + Design Project
DESCRIPTION:In this collaborative case study\, members of the project team for AIASF’s dramatic new home at the Center for Architecture + Design will share the story of their successful use of on-site AR. How was the full-size AR design model created from the architect’s digital design files? How was this model meshed with the existing interior space within the historic Hallidie Building? How was the model viewed? What was the outcome? What does this story tell about how AR can be used today to review and present architectural designs? \nREGISTER HERE \n  \n\nLearning Objectives\n\napply the learnings from this project to current work\nmake AR models at a wide range of scales\nplace AR models on or off site\nhave a powerful tool to present projects\n\n  \n\nAbout the Presenters\nAmy Ress\nDeputy Director\, AIA San Francisco \nAs the Deputy Director of AIA San Francisco\, Amy Ress is at her best-implementing programs to empower and inspire architects and allied professionals to expand the impact of their work in vulnerable communities. She was the Executive Director at AIA Silicon Valley and the Program Director of Resilient by Design during the challenge’s launch phase. Amy also served as the Director of the internationally recognized 1+ program at Public Architecture\, a nonprofit that engages architects and designers\, nonprofits\, and manufacturers to commit to design for the public good. Amy advanced the reach and scale of this program to provide $56MM in pro bono design services annually for nonprofits that collectively serve millions of beneficiaries. \nMac Dean\nTechnical Co-Founder\, Geopogo \nA pioneer in AR engineering for design and construction\, Mac Dean is the Technical Co-Founder of Geopogo. Together with Mike Hoppe\, Mac has filed a USPTO patent application for their BIM-to-AR invention. He leads a growing team of engineers from UC Berkeley. Mac has a broader vision of integrating AR with Multiplayer and Gaming Engines and applying it to general manufacturing as well as design and construction. \nMichael Hoppe\nCreative Director\, Geopogo \nMichael Hoppe is the Creative Director of Geopogo\, the Berkeley-based architectural 3D design software company. Geopogo specializes in augmented reality and 3D remote collaboration\, with the mission to build a better world. Since completing his architecture degree in 2010\, Michael has worked for firms as an architectural designer and 3D graphics specialist\, using virtual and augmented reality as presentation design tools. Michael joined Geopogo in 2018 and has guided the team on its mission to transform how architectural designs are experienced. \nShane Engelman\nLead Software Engineer\, Magic Leap \nREGISTER HERE
