SUMMARY:Design Tech Meetup – From Idea to IP: Patenting New AEC Technology
DESCRIPTION:Architects can also be patented inventors! We all have imagination which can be applied to practical purposes and benefit the profession and society. Patents must be unique\, have a practical purpose\, and not be obvious. Technology innovation is strongly supported by the patent process. Join a discussion with two architects who have dreamed of innovative technology and completed the rigorous journey from initial idea to granted patent. You or your firm can be next! \nREGISTER HERE \n  \n\nLearning Objectives\nAttendees will be able to: \n\nstart transforming their technology ideas into patents.\nwork more knowledgeably with patent attorneys and USPTO examiners.\nplan for all the stages of the patent process.\ndream bigger.\n\n  \n\nAbout the Presenters\n \nGabriele Sorrento\nBoard Director\, Vection Technologies \nGabriele Sorrento is a Director at Vection Technologies\, a 360° partner helping leading enterprises like Arup\, Perkins&Wills\, and Zaha Hadid Architects boost their design cycle with real-time software. Gabriele became passionate about computational design at the age of 14. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering at Polytechnic University of Milan and studied entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University as a Fulbright fellow. In 2014 he founded Mindesk\, with the goal of empowering CAD users with AR/VR technology. Today Gabriele is part of AIASF Design Technology Commission and leads the VRAR Association Silicon Valley chapter. \nDave Alpert\, FAIA\nCEO and Co-Founder\, Geopogo AR \nDave is an award-winning architect now leading the development of Geopogo’s AR Instantly software for design and construction. 3D made simple. Geopogo’s vision is to apply the power of AR to build a better world by making construction more affordable and by increasing the budget available for high-quality design. In his career as an architect\, Dave worked on project design teams for major commercial and institutional buildings in the Bay Area for the local offices of SOM\, Gensler\, and other firms. After earning an MBA mid-career\, he worked on the owner’s side coaching design and construction teams on $10 billion of projects around the country for Kaiser Permanente. \nREGISTER HERE
